Ombudsman for postdoc

John Steen is the name of the ombudsman for stipend/ scholarship funded postdoc (not employed Postdoc). You can contact him if you run into problems or want information during your postdoc period at KI. He works under complete confidentiality, unless explicitly told otherwise by the postdoc that seeks advice.

The ombudsman's tasks are:

To provide objective and independent information about, financing, health insurance, parental leave and unemployment benefits etc. 
The Ombudsman can assist and support the postdoc and act as a personal representative for him/her in conflict with their department. This may be direct conflicts regarding insufficient advising, failing of financing in spite of promises, the supervisor or conflicts regarding copyright and authorship etc. The ombudsman can also give advice and help in resolving problems, even if there is no severe conflict.

The student ombudsman

Studentombudsmannen, SO, är en oberoende instans som du kan vända dig till i olika frågor. Det kan till exempel handla om att du inte anser dig ha blivit bemött på ett korrekt sätt eller har andra problem i dina kontakter med lärare, studenter eller andra anställda på KI eller annan utbildningsplats (sjukhus, vårdcentraler, mm).

Studentombudsmannen företräder alla studenter och för dels den enskildes talan men kan även föreslå ändringar i rutiner som berör alla studenter. Tystnadsplikt gäller och man kan även vara anonym. Tjänsten innehas av Mauridi Sabuni, han är anställd av Medicinska föreningen men företräder samtliga kårer vid KI.

The Ombudsman for postdocs

The Graduate Students´Ombudsman provide the doctoral students with independent information about rules and regulations at Karolinska Institutet as well as assist and support doctoral students in some kind of conflict with the department. The Gradute Students' Ombudsman is an independent expert employed by Medicinska Föreningen to support the doctoral students. Please note that the Graduate Students' Ombudsman works under complete confidentiality, unless explicitly told otherwise by the doctoral student that seeks advice.
